Sew a leather Saami style coffee pouch. Using lovely naturally coloured leathers, you will sew your own Saami style coffee pouch. This iconic unique Saami design is typical of a nomadic people. Because of the pleats, the pouch can contain a lot of contents, but as the contents diminish, the pouch takes up less and less space. (Unlike a box or pot) You will learn the cut the design, sew leather using leather needles and sinew, insert a weld, and two different sewing stiches, including the ‘puckering stitch’. Whilst you sew you will learn more about the Saami, their craftwork and lifestyle.
